China Import and Export Committee Lead China Textile Go Further

Founded in 1952, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) is a national foreign trade and investment promotion agency. 

The major responsibilities of the CCPIT include: implement relevant major national development strategies, and promote foreign trade, bilateral investment and economic & technological cooperation; carry forward cooperation with overseas trade promotion counterparts; receive overseas high-end trade and economic delegations; organize Chinese trade and economy delegations to visit foreign countries; manage overseas trade exhibitions organized by Chinese agencies, participate in affairs of Bureau of International Expositions (BIE) and World Expo on behalf of the Chinese government; hold or organize Chinese companies to attend trade and economic exhibitions, forums, fairs and other international conferences; represent domestic industry and commerce in the field of foreign trade, and involve into the formulation of trade and economic policies and rules, foreign trade negotiation and making of international commercial rules; carry out legal consulting, commercial conciliation , trade and maritime arbitration; sign and issue certificates of origin for export products and other certificates and documents related to foreign trade, provide intellectual property services such as patent application, trade mark registration, litigation and rights safeguarding; organize industries and enterprises to cope with trade disputes; provide trade and economic information, training services etc. 

The CCPIT will establish wide connections with relevant international organizations, trade & investment promotion agencies, commercial associations and business circle, to organize various forms of communication and cooperation. It is committed to enhancing services for companies and making positive contributions to development of bilateral and multilateral trade relationships, promotion of world economic prosperity and improvement of the well-being of all mankind. 

CCPIT and "The Belt and Road"

The co-construction of the "Belt and Road Initiative" is the most important cooperation proposal China has made to the world and is by far the most widely welcomed international public product. At present, the building of the Belt and Road initiative has seen a sound start and a smooth progress. It has already received positive responses from over 100 countries and regions and has made a large number of early harvests.

    Under the Belt and Road Initiative, how can China's convention and exhibition industry grasp the opportunities, adjust its strategic direction and find new growth points? This topic has aroused the heated discussion among delegates at the 13th China International Forum on Convention and Exhibition Economy recently held.

    Initiative to spawn new markets

    "Under the new normal of the global economy, the world convention and exhibition industry is gradually shifting its territory to emerging markets such as Asian countries and has gradually become the new impetus for the development of convention and exhibition industry in the world."

    Zhang Zurong, chairman of Macao Trade and Investment Promotion Institute, pointed out: Under the "Belt and Road Initiative", it is especially necessary to strengthen interconnection and interoperability with other countries along the route and promote economic cooperation at the international and regional levels. Moreover, an international convention and exhibition platform is needed to provide financial services, commerce and trade, infrastructure, Culture and other fields to create more opportunities.

    "The Belt and Road Initiative promotes China's economic development, stimulates infrastructure construction in the countries along the line, enhances the value of trade and investment, and spawns new markets in China and other Asian countries." David Doe, President and CEO, International Exhibition & Project Association Boye believes that the "Belt and Road Initiative" can allow China to export its production capacity and products, and at the same time, allow Chinese enterprises to participate in more international alliances and establish more cooperative partnerships with more foreign enterprises.

    According to the "Economic Report on the Development of China's Exhibitions" (2016) compiled by the CCPIT, as of December 2016, 83 exhibitors from all over the country went to 32 countries along the "Belt and Road" for 602 exhibitors, up from the previous year 16%. The total exhibition area was 302,000 square meters, an increase of 31.9% over the previous year. The number of exhibitors was 20,000, up 25% over the previous year. Under the "Belt and Road Initiative" initiative, the countries and regions along the Belt and Road have become new hot spots in the market.

    Initiative for Regional Cooperation "Thailand believes that the Belt and Road Initiative can promote regional cooperation and benefit the countries along the coast and also bring more business opportunities and win-win results for Thailand." Nopal Mesh, Director of Convention and Exhibition Bureau of Thailand Kutchai said that Thailand is willing to serve as the central role of ASEAN in the "One Belt, One Road" construction and will give full play to its geographical, logistics, transportation and economic advantages. In the meantime, Thailand will also closely integrate the Belt and Road initiative in its strategy of developing convention and exhibition economy. Develop policies to better promote the economic development of the Greater Mekong Sub-region and ASEAN countries.

    Taking Macao as an example, Zhang Zurong said at present that Macao is actively building a world tourism and leisure center and a service platform for business cooperation between China and Portuguese-speaking countries. By relying on the merging of Chinese and Western history and culture, Macao is closely linked with overseas Chinese and has superior business advantages, The role of maritime Silk Road nodes to promote innovation and coordinated development of the MICE industry, and comprehensively promote the diversification of industries.

    "With the optimization of the hardware and software industry in the exhibition industry, Macau is able to organize more large-scale international conventions and exhibitions to find business opportunities for the countries and regions along the Belt and Road and to expand its own development path." Zhang Zurong said: In addition to the joint efforts of the industry and the government, the opportunities provided by the Belt and One Road can not be separated from the cooperation in the region or in the world. Macao hopes that in the future, it will continue to deepen the cooperation and synergistic development between the Mainland of China and other Portuguese-speaking countries and other countries, promote the convention and exhibition industry as a new economic growth point and promote the sustained and healthy global economic development.

    Initiative to speed up the layout

    Zhang Zurong believes that the convention and exhibition industry can provide an important entry point for the "One Belt and One Road", and can use the conference to drive the development of emerging industries from a strategic level and market the industry with professional exhibitions and fairs.

    Currently, the China Brand Exhibition, created by Middle East International Exhibition Group, China Trade Week has been settled in 8 countries in the Middle East and Africa. According to Wang Hailin, president of the Group, with the help of "Belt and Road", China Week was introduced to countries along the route mainly for introducing China's good products, promoting Chinese culture, and communicating the stories of China to other countries along the way through product exhibitions and other means . In order to make the exhibition more international, select the international team operation, and integrate the Chinese thinking into the operation mode of the international team, and then combine the localization experience and service to promote Chinese products to "go global".

    According to Wang Hailin's experience, it is more central to hold exhibitions in the countries and regions along the "Belt and Road". The more central point is that there should be a promotion meeting, a technical meeting, a B2B buyer meeting at the exhibition site, and a unified operation should be conducted through specialized agencies.

    Turning to the expansion of the national market risk along the "Belt and Road", Wang Hailin said with the Iranian market as an example that both operation and operation and government control are very strict.     David Dubboe reminded that the challenges facing the "Belt and a Road" are mainly reflected in the three dimensions of politics, culture and security.
